I understand the good ole U.S.A. has elected a raving lunatic... AGAIN. And this time he's so pissed off he renamed a lake whose name predates the U.S. and Canada, but I guess he's mad at Ford so tax cars and rename a lake. My two cents on the counter-tariff stance Canada keeps taking: don't, instead charge an excise tax on every product he's throwing tariffs on. Don't charge us more, charge them more, and for all those things Trump does not need from Canada like, energy, pull the plug on it outright. how quickly will tariffs be dropped when New York lives in constant brown-outs.
Now on to the AI Data Center math conundrum. Here's the math I don't get. AI has been buying up computer memory, storage, graphics cards, and other computer hardware driving prices of these components to double and even triple in a short time-frame. These prices not only make AI more expensive to operate, but they also make buying a computer, which, one might buy to ask AI to generate more cat videos, out of financial reach, especially for all the knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers who need AI to think for them. So if people cannot afford the computers or smartphones they'd use to access AI, then who is left to subscribe whatever monthly fee is required to earn back the borrowed trillions of dollars that bought all the hardware in the first place? And within the next 5-years? Remember this technology is top of the line now, but after 5 years it will be out-dated and out-classed by the hardware available then... Then they'll need trillions more to replace what's in the data-centers now.
So there is a problem even before I mention that nobody wants a data center anywhere nears them for the resource suckage, and constant hum. They don't even really bring jobs to the area once the place is built. So much of the software management can be done via remote that the people stuck working on site are a few technicians and specialists. Count how many people you see in the background, how many cars in the parking lot? It's mostly rows and rows of server racks with nobody visible anywhere, because the only thing required is to replace a failed component once it is all up and running
